With the release of Oshi no Ko chapter 124, fans witnessed Ruby becoming excessively attached to her brother, Aqua. While eagerly anticipating Aqua’s response to Ruby’s controversial suggestion, the latest chapter did not reveal it. Instead, we start in a completely different scene.
In the previous chapter, Gorou and Sarina reunited after over 18 years. Ruby immediately confessed to Aqua about all the lies she had to tell him to maintain her persona as Ruby. Aqua responded by assuring her that her true personality as Sarina was more than enough. Ruby then reminded Aqua about Gorou’s promise to Sarina.

Oshi no Ko chapter 124 was titled “Reversal,”. The chapter began with Ruby being clingy towards Aqua, persistently trying to drink his juice (No, it is not what you think, it’s juice, literally). Kana Arima was startled and questioned her behavior and asked Aqua to have some restrain over her. Ruby explained that she had resolved her issues with Aqua, leading to her newfound affectionate behavior.
Ruby even climbed onto Aqua’s lap, surprising Kana, who couldn’t find the words to respond. Mem-Cho took the opportunity to capture the moment for her Instagram. Later, when Kana and Mem-Cho were alone, they discussed Ruby’s hectic work schedule.
Mem-Cho theorized that Ruby’s workload had made her reliant on Aqua, resulting in her clingy behavior. While Kana Arima didn’t see anything wrong with relying on family, they realized that the root cause of the problem was Ruby’s demanding schedule, which needed to be addressed. They speculated that Strawberry Productions President Miyako Saitou must have been struggling with Ruby’s schedule.
As guessed by Kana, Miyako was indeed facing difficulties. Balancing Ruby’s flourishing career with her personal life weighed heavily on her as a mother. Despite the opportunities coming Ruby’s way, Miyako felt the burden of putting too much work pressure on her daughter. Nonetheless, she believed in Ruby’s potential and aspired for her to achieve the same success as Ai.
Later, at a bar, the bartender inquired about Miyako’s children, which triggered finally allowed her to express herself. She mentioned how she felt lost about how to handle her children, as they don’t reveal their true selves to her. Miyako’s self doubt on herself for not being their biological mother added to her stress. At the same time, Ichigo Saitou entered the bar and reunited with Miyako, potentially indicating that he might help with Ruby’s work schedule.
Review and Final Thoughts on Oshi No Ko 124:
While the Oshi no Ko community was in turmoil, the chapter leaves Aqua’s answer to Ruby open to speculation. Although we witness Ruby being especially close to Aqua, it remains uncertain how their relationship has evolved since the last chapter.
The chapter also shines a much needed spotlight on Miyako as we observe her inner turmoil. Her responsibilities as a manager and a mother add depth to her character. We see her concern as a mother, wishing for her children to open up to her, while as a manager, she tries not to miss any opportunities for Ruby and Strawberry Productions’ success.
Towards the end, Oshi no Ko chapter 124 brings about Miyako’s reunion with Ichigo, though the manga decides to keep more details on their interaction for the next chapter. There is a strong possibility that Aqua sought Ichigo’s assistance in managing Ruby’s work schedule, leading to their encounter. It will be intriguing to witness Miyako and Ichigo’s interactions after years of Ichigo abandoning Strawberry Production and Miyako.
