Sunset, a map that doesn’t have the usual unique features like rotating doors or teleporters, offering a simpler and more straightforward gaming experience.
Valorant Map Sunset: Release Date
Sunset will make its debut on Valorant servers alongside Episode 7 Act 2, arriving on August 29, 2023. This new Act will also introduce additional content, including a new battle pass.
Valorant Map Sunset: Layout
Compared to some of Valorant’s previous maps, Sunset features a layout that is rather conventional. Sunset will only have the two spike sites (A and B), in contrast to Lotus and Haven. However, it provides three lanes for players to engage in combat. The map was created with a focus on mid control, offering both attackers and defenders a wide variety of cover choices. By the way, Valorant’s official Twitter account tweeted a minimap of a Sunset map; check it out below!
According to Joe Lansford, the Lead Map Designer on Valorant,
“Sunset features a mid that is fairly difficult to control and doesn’t really favor one team or another; it’s generally good for rifle ranges and opens up a bunch of opportunities for whichever team can take it. We expect to see both teams make mid control a central part of their strategy on Sunset.”
In terms of aesthetics, Sunset draws heavy inspiration from Los Angeles, featuring various references to the city, such as art pieces, food trucks, and skate parks. By the way, check out the overview of the Sunset map below!
“We gathered most of our artistic inspiration right in our backyard,” Lansford continued. Many pillars of our unique LA culture may be found across the world. everything, including art deco buildings, traffic gridlock, food trucks, and neon sunsets.
It was difficult to balance the feel of a LA sunset with a pink skyline and deep shadows while maintaining gameplay clarity for those bright sunsets. The creators think they’ve achieved the ideal balance after some adjustment.
You can experience the lighting and map design for yourself when Sunset arrives at the end of this month.
