Tenkaichi: The Greatest Warrior Under the Rising Sun is officially getting an anime adaptation. The news was shared by Kodansha through the manga’s official X(Twitter) account, announced on April 11, 2025, and included a visual teaser image. The manga contains two of the most iconic characters, Musashi Miyamoto and Honda Tadakatsu, clashing in a battling pose, teasing the intense action and character drama fans can expect in the upcoming anime.

Tenkaichi: The Greatest Warrior Under the Rising Sun is written by Yosuke Nakamura and illustrated by Kyotaro Azuma. This exciting historical action series offers high-stakes political drama, intense battles, and samurai lore. its manga officially released in Young Magazine on the 3rd January 2021 and in May 2021, it found a new home in Monthly Young Magazine after its discontinuation. It has developed a genuine fan base over time and has been collected into ten compiled volumes.
What to Expect from the Anime
While the further details such as the release date, animation studio, and cast are yet to be release, the production team confirmed that fans can look forward to dynamic action scenes, lively character portrayals, and exact adaptations of the manga’s most iconic moments. If the teaser visual is anything to go by, then the anime will primarily rely on dramatic storytelling and adventurous, stylized fighting choreography – everything that initially made the manga popular.
Plot: Tenkaichi
History as we know it is not here. It is 1600. Oda Nobunaga brought all of Japan together ten years ago. As he approaches the end of his life, Nobunaga declares that whoever brings him the strongest warrior will take over the throne. After their hopes of capturing the nation were dashed, the generals raised their own best soldiers with the intention of ruling the nation as kings!
Honda Tadakatsu, a legendary spear wielder sponsored by Tokugawa Ieyasu, will face the rising prodigy Miyamoto Musashi, endorsed by Chosokabe Motochika, in the opening match!
