The second concept trailer for Horimiya: The Missing Pieces was recently revealed. The anime is set to premiere on July 1 and will cover the chapters from the manga that were not included in the original adaptations. Fans have the opportunity to enjoy the anime on Crunchyroll.
Studio CloverWorks, known for their work on the first season, will be animating Horimiya: The Missing Pieces. The announcement was made during this year’s AnimeJapan event. Although the first season covered the main story, some side stories had to be omitted.
The Horimiya series originated from Hori-san to Miyamura-kun, a four-panel comic by Hiroki Adachi (aka HERO). Originally published on the author’s website, it was later picked up by Square Enix and released in ten volumes under the Gangan Comics imprint. Extra chapters were gathered and included in the Hori-san to Miyamura-kun Omake series. An original video animation series was also adapted from the manga.
Horimiya, the adaptation of the four-panel manga, was created by Daisuke Hagiwara under the supervision of HERO. It was serialized in Monthly GFantasy magazine from 2011 to 2021. Yen Press holds the English license for the manga, which is described as a heartwarming school-life tale. It revolves around Kyouko Hori, known for her intelligence and popularity, and Izumi Miyamura, a seemingly boring and gloomy classmate. When Miyamura unexpectedly visits Hori’s home, their lives take an unexpected turn, revealing different sides to their personalities and stories.
