Spice and Wolf Anime Reboot: First Trailer Released and 2024 Premiere Date Revealed!

Exciting news for Spice and Wolf fans! The new anime project has released its first trailer, revealing a reboot that will premiere in 2024. Animated by Passione, the series will feature the return of the original anime’s main cast.

Under the direction of Takeo Takahashi and Hijiri Sanpei, the new project promises a fresh take on the beloved series. Kevin Penkin will compose the music, adding to the immersive experience. Additionally, a concept visual has been unveiled, giving fans a glimpse of what’s to come.

Spice and Wolf, based on a popular Japanese light novel series written by Isuna Hasekura and illustrated by Jyuu Ayakura, originally aired in 2008 with 12 episodes. It was followed by OVAs in 2008 and 2009. The second season, consisting of 12 episodes, aired in the same year. The series was brought to life by studios Imagin, Marvy Jack, and Brain’s Base.

The light novel series, published by ASCII Media Works from 2006 to 2019, spanned 22 volumes.A manga version of Spice and Wolf, adapted by Keito Koume, was serialized from 2007 to 2017. Additionally, a sequel novel called Wolf and Parchment, written by Isuna Hasekura and illustrated by Hidori, is currently being published. Both the original series and the sequel have been officially licensed by Yen Press.

Spice and Wolf tells the story of Kraft Lawrence,

a traveling merchant whose lonely life takes an unexpected turn when he discovers a wolf goddess named Holo asleep in his cart. With Holo’s help, Lawrence aims to increase his profits during his travels. However, their partnership proves to be a mixed blessing as they encounter various challenges along the way.
