Recap of the Episode
In Episode 10 of Oshi No Ko, Ruby and MEM-cho try really hard to convince Kana to become the center of B Komachi. They shower her with compliments and kind gestures, but Kana keeps saying she doesn’t want that role. However, Ruby suggests that Kana listens to them sing, and somehow that convinces Kana to agree to be the center, even if she didn’t originally want to.
Miyako shows up and tells the girls that Pieyon will help them prepare for the Japan Idol Festival. They do some stamina exercises, and while Ruby and MEM-cho work on their performance strategies, Pieyon talks with Kana. During their conversation, Kana admits that she doesn’t think she has what it takes to be an idol and feels like no one really understands her on a personal level. But then Pieyon surprises her by listing several facts about her life. As they talk and find common interests, Kana starts to wonder if she should give up on Aqua and consider Pieyon as a potential love interest.
During a break, Kana tells MEM-cho why she dislikes Aqua. Just then, Ruby calls them to practice again. Meanwhile, Pieyon is on the phone listing all the impressive things Ruby, MEM-cho, and Kana have done. But here’s the twist: the Pieyon they’ve been with is actually Aqua in disguise!
Later, Kana wonders why Ruby is so optimistic when there’s a chance they could fail miserably. Ruby reveals that she’s always dreamed of being an idol and even recalls her previous life when she was stuck in a hospital bed. She admits to having a little crush on her doctor and wonders what he’s up to now. Ruby eventually falls asleep, and Kana wishes she had someone to support her. When Kana leaves the room, she sees Pieyon without his mask and realizes it’s actually Aqua. Talk about a surprise!
The girls and Miyako arrive at the Japan Idol Festival and find out they’ll perform on the Star Stage. Miyako takes them to the dressing room, but Kana and the others are shocked by how crowded it is. Miyako explains the differences between underground idols and those with big fanbases. Kana feels a lot of pressure as the lead of B Komachi and remembers moments when people made her feel unimportant. Ruby rushes over to Kana and confesses how nervous she is about the performance. She holds Kana’s hand and notices that Kana is also feeling cautious.
Kana tells Ruby that she doesn’t want her and MEM-cho to experience the pain of failure like she has in the past. But Ruby encourages her to embrace failure and just have fun on stage. The episode ends with the girls all dressed up and ready to give it their best shot.
Review of Oshi no ko episode 10
Now, let’s talk about this episode. It really shows how sometimes we all need someone who pushes us to do better. And luckily, Kana found that support in Ruby. Fans who love Kana will especially enjoy this episode because it gives us a deeper understanding of why she struggles with low self-esteem compared to others.
Even with all her talents, Kana has faced a lot of failures, so it’s understandable that she didn’t feel like the perfect fit to be B Komachi’s center. This episode reminds us that even if you seem perfect on the outside, you can still have doubts about yourself. Now we’re looking forward to seeing Kana, Ruby, and MEM-cho give it their all in the upcoming performance.
We hope the audience will have a great reaction to their performance. This episode also sheds light on how less popular idols are treated at festivals, which is a bit unfair. But it’s great that the show keeps giving us an honest look into the idol culture. Overall, it was a delightful episode of Oshi No Ko. Kana’s character received some subtle development, and it’s heartwarming to see her bond with Ruby grow. Let’s hope for a fantastic performance to wrap up Oshi No Ko season one.
