Genshin Impact 4.0 Update: All the information you need to know!

Genshin Impact just had its version 4 live stream featuring the brand new region, Fontaine! While the actual update arrives on August 16, 8:00 AM (UTC +8). We know a bunch of new things which are coming in the Fontaine update. Let’s get to the good stuff—Fontaine characters! Genshin Impact dropped a trailer called “As Light Rain Falls Without Reason”

Giving us a sneak peek at some characters who will gonna be the Fontaine. Some characters like Lyney, Lynette, and Freminet, Navia, Neuvillette, Clorinde, Navia, Tartaglia(returning), Focalors were revealed to have a major role in the Archon Quest. Get ready to welcome these new faces alongside the our familiar Tartaglia in 4.0 update.

Underwater Swimming

We’ve known for quite some time about the that the underwater swimming mechanic is coming to Genshin Impact. It will be Fontaine exclusive as confirmed during the livestream. Players can swim using any character and there is no limit to how long the Travellers can stay underwater.

Genshin Impact Version 4 Banners

Phase 1 of banners wil include Lyney (5 Star Pyro Bow)/Yelan (5 star Hydro Bow), Lynette (4 star Sword), Bennett (4 star sword) and Barbara (4 star catalyst).

Phase 1 weapon banner will include The First Great Magic (5 star)/Aqua Simulacra (5 star), Sacrificial Bow (4 star), Sacrificial Sword (4 star), Sacrificial Fragment (4 star), Favonius Lance (4 star) and Favonius Greatsword (4 star).

Phase 2 will feature Zhongli (5 star Polearm), Tartaglia (5 star Bow) and Freminet (4 Star Claymore).

New Story Quest

Lyney’s story quest titled “Felis Fuscus Chapter” will be permanently available after the Version 4.0 update.

New Archon Quest

The main continuation of Genshin Impact’s story, the Archon Quest Chapter IV Act I and II will be permanently available after the version 4.0 update. Players need to be Adventure Rank 40 to start Fontaine’s Archon Quest.

New Bosses

Alongside new characters, new bosses were revealed to be coming to the region of Fontaine. Emperor of Fire and Iron and Icewind Suite are the brand new overworld bosses which players can farm for levelling up Fontaine characters.

New Party Setup Screen

Starting with version 4, players will be greeted to a brand new party setup/character select screen. The backgrounds will change depending upon the location in which the players are currently in.

Fontaine Battle Pass Weapons

Fontaine will also see a revamp in Battle Pass weapons. Images show that these weapons will have CRIT Rate as a substat, with some cool changes to their looks and abilities.

Craftable Weapons

The crafting system is getting an upgrade too. Fontaine will introduce new craftable weapons with ATK percent substats, except for one unique polearm with HP percent. Talk about variety!

Fontaine Artifacts

Let’s not forget about artifacts. Fontaine will bring brand-new artifacts, Golden Troupe and Marechaussee Hunter. Their effects remain a mystery as of now.

Fontaine Artifact Strongbox

Fontaine’s Artifact Strongbox is getting an extension, and some top-notch artifacts, like the Emblem of Severed Fate, will be added to make farming easier.

Free Lynette

And last but not the least, A free copy of Lynette will be distributed to all the players who have reached AR25.
