Oshi no Ko Chapter 129 is set to release on October 18, 2023 but as usual, leaks have surfaced before the stated release. Before we get down to leaks, a bit of recap. In the previous chapter, the actors for the “15-Year Lie” gathered for a script reading. During this, the Crow Girl disclosed that she would be playing the younger versions of Aqua and Ruby. Meanwhile, Director Gotanda had some reservations about the Crow Girl’s portrayal and the movie’s final line.
Oshi no Ko Chapter 129 Spoiler Summary:
The latest spoilers for Oshi no Ko Chapter 129 reveal that the manga series has kicked off filming arc for the “15-Year Lie” movie as we were delighted to receive an acting focused chapter. We get to see Ruby, Kana, Akane, and Mem step into their roles as the original B-Komachi members for the first time. However, Ruby faces a small hiccup right at the start.
Chapter 129 begins with the filming of the “15-Year Lie.” Akane, playing Takamine, is seen scolding Kana, portraying Nino, for leaving a water bottle open. Following this, Takamine goes on to berate Nino, criticizing her appearance and calling her uneducated for having a stray lock of hair.
This is when Mem-Cho, as Mei Mei, intervenes and asks Takamine to stop bullying Nino. Takamine defends herself, saying she wasn’t a bully but was just being firm. She emphasizes her love for Nino and explains that she was looking out for her future. The scene concludes with Miyako instructing Ruby to closely observe everything in order to match Akane and Kana’s acting prowess.
Meanwhile, Mem-Cho has Akane and Kana assess her performance. Both of them are impressed with Mem-Cho’s portrayal. However, Kana speculates that Mem-Cho did well because Mei Mei’s personality resembles hers. This leads Kana to deduce that Akane might have a harsh personality, which made her adept at playing Takamine. Although Akane refuted being harsh, she did admit to enjoying her role in tormenting Kana.
Chapter 129 of Oshi no Ko also marks the beginning of Ruby Hoshino’s acting journey as Ai Hoshino. She has a simple line to deliver, “Hello everyone,” but Director Gotanda isn’t satisfied with Ruby’s performance and has her redo the scene 13 times.
Seeking feedback on her performance, Ruby asks one of the staff members to inquire with the Director. Gotanda responds by saying that Ai should come across as even more naive than Ruby was portraying. Therefore, he advised Ruby not to overthink it. This comment from the director stings Ruby, as she believed her mother wasn’t naive but rather someone who hid her emotions.
Filled with frustration, Ruby attempts to conceal her feelings while reshooting the scene. Finally, the shot is perfect as she embodies Ai’s true essence. Kana remarks that the Director wanted Ruby to channel the same emotions as Ai, i.e., someone with concealed feelings. Repeating the shot pushed Ruby to become frustrated and hide her emotions while delivering the final take.
In light of this, Kana commended the director and urged Mem-Cho and Akane to be cautious while collaborating with him.
With that the chapter comes to an end. As a good news, it was confirmed that there is no break next week so we will be able to witness more of Oshi no Ko.
