Recap of Episode 12
Okay, before we begin with episode 13, let’s skim over what went down in episode 12 of Heavenly Delusion (Read the full review here). So, Takahara Academy was hit hard. There was this massive projectile that wrecked a chunk of the ceiling and wall. Total chaos broke loose, and everyone was scrambling to find cover.
Now, while all that was going on, Kiruko and Maru stumbled upon this settlement called the Ministry of Reconstruction. They went ahead and registered themselves there. And let me tell you, Kiruko was on edge but also kinda pumped up. She was itching to find out about Robin, you know?
Trigger Warning: Following mentions sexual assault.
So, Kiruko left Maru in their room and finally got to see Robin after years of being apart. They had a nostalgic moment, reminiscing about the time they worked with Dr. Usami. But here’s where things took a dark turn, man. Robin crossed some serious boundaries and straight-up sexually assaulted Kiruko. That long-awaited reunion turned into an absolute nightmare that left Kiruko scarred.
Back at Takahara Academy. Mimihime and her buddies ventured out into the outside world, and man, were they in for a shock. The “ceiling” out there was crazy tall!
Review of Episode 13
Coming to the most recent episode and the season finale of Heavenly Delusion Season 1, the Takahara Academy kids finally managed to get outside after being stuck in some facility for ages. But let me tell you, they were so sheltered that even walking in the sun was a major challenge for them. It just goes to show the kind of upbringing they had. But hey, there’s this doctor lady and her glasses-wearing partner who actually want to help these kids escape from that place. That’s when Aoshima came up with this “NOAH PROJECT” idea to save them.
Oh, and let’s talk about Kiruko, Robin and Maru. Can you believe Kiruko stayed with Robin for a whole two freaking days? And guess what? It took Maru the same amount of time to finally do something about it. Two days! Eventually, Maru shows up and starts beating the crap out of everyone, but it’s a little too late if you ask me. I get that he’s concerned about Kiruko, but if only he had taken action a bit earlier… well, in hindsight, it probably wouldn’t have changed much anyway.
And you know what? Tokio just can’t catch a break. I have no clue what happened to him back there. But hey, amidst all the chaos, there was this sweet moment between Mimihime and Shiro. At least there’s something good happening in the middle of this clusterfuck, right? By the way, Shiro showing his forehead totally reminds me of Usami, just saying.
I’ll be honest, it would’ve been a perfect ending if Maru had given Robin the beating of a lifetime. But of course, Kiruko had to step in and stop him. I mean, that’s how things always go in anime, right? Damn those anime clichés. Anyway, Maru and Kiruko have made up, and their journey continues, as simple as that.
Now, from an adaptation standpoint, they pretty much covered all the bases. People were calling this a passion project, and I can see why now. But man, I really wish we got more answers. As it stands, the unanswered mysteries outweigh the good times. Still, I’m gonna miss this show, you know?
