The upcoming special TV anime of The Quintessential Quintuplets ∽, produced by studio SHAFT, has unveiled its first trailer. The special is set to premiere this summer and will embark on a three-week theatrical screening tour in Japan starting from July 14. Take a look at the trailer:

Yukihiro Miyamoto is directing the anime, with Keichiro Ochi in charge of the series composition. The original cast from The Quintessential Quintuplets anime will also be returning for this new project. The theme songs, titled “Go-toubun no Mirai” for the opening and “Takaramono” for the ending, will be released on July 12 and performed by the Nakano sisters. The cast includes:

  • Yoshitsugu Matsuoka as Futaro Uesugi
  • Ayana Taketatsu as Nino Nakano
  • Ayane Sakura as Yotsuba Nakano
  • Inori Minase as Itsuki Nakano
  • Kana Hanazawa as Ichika Nakano
  • Miku Ito as Miku Nakano

The first season of The Quintessential Quintuplets anime aired in 2019, animated by Tezuka Productions. The second season, which premiered in 2021, was handled by Bibury Animation Studios. The final movie was also animated by Bibury Animation Studios.

The manga, which concluded last year, has been licensed by Kodansha and an epilogue chapter has been published in English. Crunchyroll streams the anime series.

Here’s a brief summary of the story:

Uesugi Fuutarou, a second-year high school student from a poor family, receives a tempting offer to work part-time as a tutor. However, his students turn out to be five beautiful girls from his own class who happen to be quintuplets. These girls, with borderline grades and a disdain for studying, present a challenge for Fuutarou. His initial task is to gain the trust of all the sisters. Get ready for a delightful romantic comedy that revolves around the Nakano household’s quintuplet sisters, where every day feels like a wild party.
