Previously in Oshi no Ko 130, we see Aqua listening in to Ai’s DVD towards the end of the chapter. In Oshi no Ko chapter 131, fans got a peek at what Aqua learned from Ai’s DVD. This DVD was a big deal in the story, and this was the first time the Ai herself was going to spill the beans in the manga.
In the last chapter, Mem-Cho stepped into her new role as a professional. Acting in a movie was a new experience for her, but she was up for the challenge. Aqua later shared with Mem-Cho how he was putting in all his effort to make the movie happen, and Mem-Cho was part of that plan.
Spoilers for Oshi no Ko 131:
As per the fan translations, Oshi no Ko Chapter 131 is titled “Atonement”. It picks up right where the last one left off, with Aqua watching Ai’s DVD. Through the DVD, Ai talked about her past, from the time she became an idol.
Turns out, she was caught stealing before, and had to stay at an institution for a while. But then she ran away, citing “After all, I’m cute, and there are plenty of ways to survive, even in the worst-case scenario” , and met Ichigo Saitou who recruited her. The other B-Komachi members liked her, but she was too young and needed someone to vouch for her. Because of Ai’s situation, Ichigo paid someone to get Ai’s name on a contract so she could officially join Strawberry Productions.
The manga then shifts to the filming of the 15-Year Lie movie. During a break, Kana, Mem-Cho, and Akane chat about how much of the story could be true. Kana thinks it’s about 50%, while Akane believes 90% is real.
Then, the focus turns to Aqua meeting his grandmother, Ai Hoshino’s mother, Hoshino Ayumi. Ayumi loves Ai dearly, but when Ai was just nine, a man who was going to marry Ayumi started taking an interest in Ai. Ayumi was angry at the man, but also felt jealousy towards her own daughter. This led to a big rift in their family.
After Ai was caught stealing and taken away, Ayumi hadn’t seen her since. Back then, she thought it was best to stay away. She tearfully gave Aqua permission to use her story for the film, but felt it wasn’t enough to make up for her mistakes.
After leaving, Aqua ran into Akane Kurokawa. He wasn’t happy she was following him, but she had promised to keep an eye on him before. Akane mentioned she didn’t find anything significant while looking into Hoshino Ayumi, meaning there wasn’t much more to dig up.
Chapter 131 of Oshi no Ko spills the beans on why Ai’s mother Ayumi left her. Fans have always been curious about Ai’s secrets, and now they’re learning about her past. With the DVD revealing details about her mother, fans can expect more revelations about Hikaru Kamiki or other important characters in the next chapter.
